Blogging Tips | Understanding the difference between Content writing and Copywriting

Let’s go back to the basics of writing and understanding the type of writing you are good at.

As a blogger and a writer, you need to understand the basics of writing and the kind of writing you are good at and also the kind of contents articles/post you should be getting involved with.

I’ll be stating the meaning of content writing and Copywriting amd also giving few examples on both format of writing, so you can have understanding of both aspect, which is important for a blogger and a writer.

COPYWRITING

Copywriting is the act or occupation of writing text for the purpose of advertising or other forms of marketing. The product, called copy, is written content that aims to increase brand awareness and ultimately persuade a person or group to take a particular action.

  • Writing for websites
  • Landing pages
  • Sales pages
  • Email campaigns
  • Video Scripts
  • White papers

CONTENT WRITING

Content writing uses words to persuade readers with quality, relevant information. But it’s different from copywriting in that content writing is about the long game – that is, engaging your target reader repeatedly over time so they comes to trust you and be interested in your product or service.

  • Writing of Articles
  • Blog posts
  • Ebooks
  • Reports
  • Newsletters
  • Video tutorials

Both forms of writing are not so different from each other. Unlike content writing going straight to selling your products and getting the readers to act immediately, content writing is about building trust, speaking directly to the readers wants, needs & feelings, and creating a solution to problems in writing.

I hope this helps to understand a little bit about format of writing.
